Musicians are pitching in to aid the relief effort in Haiti after an 8.0 magnitude earthquake struck Port-au-Prince Tuesday, reportedly killing thousands. Wyclef Jean, a native of the Port-au-Prince suburb Croix-des-Bouquets, is urging people to donate to his charity, yele, via text and online.
The multi-platinum musician told CNN, “We’re gonna need immediate aid, and we’re gonna need the United States and the international community to react immediately. This is the worst devastation that we as Haitian people have faced.”
Wyclef took to Twitter early after the earthquake struck, and other musicians including Wale, DJ Drama, Diddy, Kid Sister and Estelle are retweeting information on how to donate.

How to help: The U.S. State Department has added a hotline for those trying to contact relatives in Haiti: 1–888-407–4747, according to the New York Times. The Red Cross, InterAction, OxFam and The International Rescue Committee are accepting donations, according to the Washington Post.
