Beer and musicians generally mix like silicone and Dolly Parton; while they appear to be drawn to each other, they should really be separated for their own sake.
It takes a rare breed of musician to enthusiastically embrace all things hoppy without losing the beat. By all appearances, Kyle Hollingsworth has managed to just that.
The String Cheese Incident keyboardist has been an avid homebrewer for years, and now he’s decided to release his creation to the public. Dubbed Hoopla, it’s set to be tapped on May 14 at the Boulder Beer Brewery in Colorado. (It will also be available in 22-ounce bottles for those of us who can’t make it to the unveiling).
Specifically made for outdoor live music events, it’s a more mellow version of a classic IPA, with a citrus finish sans bitterness. Look for it at Summer Camp in Illinois (May 27-29), Bonnaroo in Tennessee (June 9-12) and Electric Forest in Michigan (June 30-July 3).
