“Oh Sandy…” Bruce Springsteen sang in 1973. This week the Jersey native performed at a live benefit concert hosted by NBC Universal to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy, a storm that left over eight million people without electricity across the East coast.
Other celebrities who performed included Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Christina Aguilera, Sting, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart, Kevin Bacon, Mary J. Blige, Tina Fey, James Gandolfini and Al Roker.
The show benefitted the American Red Cross. To donate, visit redcross.org or call 800-RED-CROSS.
Benefit concerts have long been a great way for artists to give back to their community. New Orleans’ Theresa Andersson spoke to us about the effects of Hurricane Katrina on her adopted hometown only a few years ago.
