The votes are in! Mumford & Sons, along with a newly-reunited Postal Service, will headline the 12th annual Sasquatch! Festival in George, Washington May 24-27.
The lineup is yet again a full palate of musical goodies for fans to revel in, from tumblr upstart and techno princess Grimes to the inimitable Cake. No virtual performances à la Coachella though–don’t expect another Tupac resurrection this year.
Here are some things to look out for during the fest–other than potential Squatch sightings:
1. Azealia Banks’ Twitter account: After throwing repetitive, slightly catchy combo punches at online enemy/partner in crime Angel Haze, things seemed to have calmed down as the rapper looks to release her debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste. It’s out in March, so expect to hear new cuts at the fest. Shoutout to fringe living!
2. The elusive Earl Sweatshirt: Fresh off a sentimental new single, “Chum,” the OFWGKTA rapper has been producing for MF Doom and watching plenty of “Ren & Stimpy” reruns with Tyler and co. Look for some new material at the festival, along with solid support from Bruiser Brigade (Danny Brown) and Top Dawg Ent. (Schoolboy Q & Ab-Soul).
3. Chillwave and beach pop: Some of the most buzz worthy tripped-out bands will be laying it down at Sasquatch. Youth Lagoon, DIIV and Porcelain Raft will all be collectively worshipping at the altar of the new My Bloody Valentine album (along with the rest of us). Check out the Lagoon’s Wondrous Bughouse on March 5th, and continue your shameless reshuffling of The Year of Hibernation (voluntary hypnotic states not included)!
